Season has begun....

Well we are officially under way at our Seasonal Site at the Granite Hill Campground for our 5th Year. We had our first trailer a year before we went seasonal so 6th Year as a family camping. Ty has been camping most of his life, he's 7 1/2.

Last weekend we built a 20x8 deck in front of our unit and did basic site maintenance. Ty and I went up this Thursday and finsihed up the maintenance, Melisa joined us Friday night after work for the Easter weekend.

Ty entered an easter egg decorating contest and won 1st place for his age group 6-8 year olds, did all the work himself. He then lost a tooth so the Tooth Fairy and Easter Bunny got into a slight tussle getting into the trailer to deliver their respective items. Not bad, one torn ferry wing and a few rabbit hairs to clean up. Ty then went on an Easter egg hunt on Easter with about 30 other kids hyped up to the max. He collected a lot of eggs. Upon return to our site the Easter Bunny (our awesome neighbors) had returned and hid eggs ALL over our site. I'd have to say he had a pretty good time.

Melisa made a nice beef roast in the crockpot with some fresh made white bread from the local farmer. Again another great meal...A nice cake to top off the deal.

Now back to reality and work/school...

Moving quickly into 2009

As you all know I've been working on my Masters Degree...I completed by first semester with an A in both classes. What a time consuming process. With my work experience I would not say its "hard", just freakin time consuming. I started my next semester last night with only one class due to some upcoming extended work hours that would make it to hard to do two at once.

Melisa has been working hard at work and and with Ty getting through first grade. The requirements they put on kids even at this age are much more than they use to. I feel sorry for those who dont have a dedicated parent at home to help.

Ty is doing well in school, 3rd quarter report card was more continued improvement. He still loves school. Scouts has been slow since the Blue and Gold Banguet but Ty has earned 5 more belt loops, he's up to 12 now in his first year of Scouts. Loves to work on getting them. I'm officially appointed the Pinewood Derby Guy for getting our Pack and a partner Pack a new joint use metal Derby Track. So far I've raised about $1,500 of the $2,500 needed.

Dogs (the girls) yeah well they are just happy Camping season has started back up so they can go for weeekly rides in the Truck.

Next post will be of our new site at the campground. Melisa and I built out new deck platform last weekend. Not bad given the level of talent to do such a thing between the the two of us. From now to November if you want to reach us call the cells cause we'll be in Gettysburg every possible weekend (last year we only missed 2).

Pinewood Derby 2009

Ty is on his first year in scouts and had his first Pinewood Derby this weekend. He created a Batman car which was complicated to an extent but he made it work. His car was a tad slow cause I didn't exactly have the weight distributed properly. He came in 3rd in his heat and got a ribbon for that. His car was chosen as the Most Unique in the entire pack, about 40 entries total. He received a trophy for this and was very excited. He did very well and most of all he did it himself.

The winner of the event was unfortunately a cheater (used liquid graphite on his axles) and got the big trophy. Ty was very proud to have followed the rules and still won a trophy.

Way to go Ty...

Just a little update on the start of 09

Well I have to agree with the experts...09 is looking not so nice. The new job I started full time today is going well. Its what I expected so that is half the battle.

College...why why why....did I think having every free second tied up studying and researching was a good idea....I hope and pray (all day) that it will get better as I go. Passed both week 1 tests but its sooooo much information in such a small amount of time.

Ty is all set for pinewood derby. He and Melisa have finished their cars and they are coming in right at the max weight so we'll see how they do in the races. He is continuing to do incredible in school both academically and socially. He is known by all the girls in 1st grade as T....Y...not TY .....But looks theres T....Y. I think I'll have him neutered at an early age...

Melisa is doing well in her job and putting up with all the madness a new year brings with payroll and 401k. She is getting ready to get back to scrapping now that I'm consumed in my College life at night, weekends and any other minute I can find.

We have started off well with $1,000 in auto repairs...seems like a repeat of 2007 already where we spent $6,000 in repairs.

I am determined its going to be a good year...no really it will be. :)

Masters...Who'd of thunk...

I've decided after 10 years since I finished my Bachelors Degree it was time to start my Masters Degree....I do my first class on Monday. I've been reading ahead some of the material and I am in for some challenging times. I'm getting my degree in Cyber Security...a realm of fighting Terrorism. The degree requires law and criminal justice courses in addition to the advanced IT classes. Wish me luck.....

2009....1900 miles and we are off..

We had a great idea...lets travel by road the week between Christmas and just after New Years....Who's "great" idea was that again? HMMMM...guess we both have to take the hit on this one.

We love to drive and travel versus the stress of airlines. Off we were first thing on 12/26/08. Stopped at our favorite place to eat when traveling...Cracker Barrell. Two and half hours later...oatmeal and scrambled eggs....we are off with a slight irritation.

We we got to North Carolina and the fun began. By the time we got through NC and SC we had lost 3 hours from the stopped and go traffic...some people weren't sure what was next (even after 200 miles of it)...go ... no stop...no go....crap they hit the guy in front of them.

Finally we get into Florida and check into a "nice" motel. After carrying our bags to the room and dodging the white trash screaming match and blood curdling screams we were "safely" in bed. Needless to say we were up VERY early and off to the in laws for a visit.

Did some fun stuff while we were there (Billies Swamp Safari in the Everglades, time at the beach and some visiting).

New Years Eve we are off to the "resort" for a "relaxing" three days.

Arrive at Caribe Royale Resort....2 hours later our room is finally "clean" and ready...its now 3pm..

Went to the new TRex restaraunt for our New Years Eve dinner and then walked around Downtown Disney. Heading back to the resort a Cadillac decides from the far right lane he needs to do a U turn and go back Westbound. All I remember is saying what the *&^% and slamming on the brakes, swerving and Melisa's blood curdling screams. Somehow, someway I missed him and crapped myself at the same time. Devine intervention.

You say how can all this happen on one trip....Oh I'm not done yet.

After the neighbor above us return from there night out it souns like a race track running from one end of their suite and back, jump up and down on the beds and do it all over again for an hour before I said not so nice stuff to the lady at the front desk and minutes later it stopped.

I managed to get a head cold in the middle of all of this so I'm pretty run down to begin with. The weather goes from 75 to 65 so no pool time which is what we had planned. We end up leaving one day early to come home because we had had just too much fun already.

We have now been introduced to the state of GA at 20 to 40 miles an hour for 2 hours...yes 2 hours.

We are now home and safely on my couch. Lets just hope the 2009 I was hoping for is better than this "vacation".
