T - 14 Days...2009

Well we as a family are very excited about our upcoming new year...2009. There are many planned changes in store for us. As a result of the disaster called 2008 we are going to diversify our retirement (what we have left) and only give away a portion to the stock market and use the rest to buy a Condo in Orlando and put some cash in the big shiney safe.

I will be going back to college at night to obtain my Master of Science Degree in Cyber Security starting in January. I'm excited and ready for the grueling process ahead. It has been 10 years since I finished my Bachelors Degree.

I've accepted a new job as Director of Information Assurance with Modern Technology Solutions Inc. I will be managing the IT and Security divisions as well as providing Cyber Security support to various federal agencies. I've known the owners for 15 years and its kind of a home coming for me because I worked with them in the Air Force at the Pentagon. Very exciting opporutnity and its the same company Melisa works for in the HR division.

Melisa will continue to pick up where I'm slacking and tirelessly support me in my career choices. She is very accepting of my desires to progress and has pledged her support in whatever I need to do and want to take on as we go forward into our next decade of marriage.

Ty will be moving up in Cub Scouts from a Tiger Cub to a Wolf. He has done very well in this program. He is maturing and progressing quite well in 1st Grade, he is exeeding all academic areas.

As always we will continue to spend as much time as we can using our Travel Trailer...Gettysburg here we come for our 5th year. We have a new bigger and more wooded site this year at Granite Hill and are looking forward to it.

We go into the new year with one less member of the family, Blondie. However she is always with us and a part of our thoughts everyday.

We hit our 10 years in marriage this year and are now entering the next 10 with newer and bigger plans for everyone.

Astronomy expert....not exactly

As you all know Ty is actively participating in Cub Scouts and earning lots of badges and belt loops. I "volunteered" to teach the Astronomy belt loop requirements. Whooooo...12 7 year old boys that already know everything. I was just glad to leave in one piece. Ty's Grandmother and Grandfather Paro had bought him several space books and a telescope, so that all came in handy. The kids were very much into the topic, unlike the food pyramid night that one of the other poor fathers had to teach. After it was all done and the bleeding in my head had stopped one of the fathers asked me if I actually worked in the Astronomy field cause he learned so much from my presentation...NOPE...only what I could get out of the book in 1 week. Think I might have set myself up for more nights of teaching topics for earning academic belt loops....

Ty was proud of his old father...
